What is CBD?

CBD

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of the many cannabinoids coming from the Cannabis plant.
The long history of cannabinoids benefits to our body's health systems has been seen across many cultures for centuries.

As our country begins to open up legal avenues for producing CBD we will be able to gather valuable data and research on what the healing benefits are from this plant. What we do know for sure is there are testimonials showing benefits from a wide array of people experiencing an even wider array of health issues. Now we need the research to prove the effectiveness.

THC vs CBD

CBD is just one of many cannabinoids found in cannabis. One of the other well-known cannabinoid compounds is called Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). When THC is processed by our body, it produces a psychoactive effect, what you might know as a "high". CBD, on the other hand, does not produce psychoactive effects.

Did you know the cannabis plant has over 120 identified cannabinoid compounds?

Our bodies have cannabinoid receptors and CBD as a supplement is one of the only ways we can add CBD into our bodies.  Industrial Hemp, which is where our CBD products are derived from has less than .3% THC.  The THC is the part of the plant producing a psychoactive remedy. The CBD does not have any mind-altering powers!

What are Cannabinoid Receptors?

Your body is composed of several systems that all perform certain jobs. Some systems you might have heard of would be the digestive system, circulatory system, nervous system, etc... There are many of them.

Did you know your body has another system called the endocannabinoid system?
This system consists of cannabinoid receptors and enzymes that synthesize and degrade endocannabinoids, the compounds found in Cannabis and in many other plants (Sunflowers, Echinacea, Black Truffles, Black Pepper, Cocoa and more). The Cannabis plant has a more potent composition of endocannabinoids, which is why many people are taking advantage of the unique properties of this plant.

In summary, the Cannabinoid Receptors in the Endocannabinoid System play a vital role in processing the cannabinoids from these plants and the cannabinoids naturally produced in your body.

Will CBD get you high?

The short answer is no, CBD is the non-psychoactive part of the Cannabis plant. There are no mind-altering compounds in CBD.

THC, another compound found in Cannabis, is responsible for the psychoactive experience (the high).

Some CBD products from other companies may contain THC due to a lack of testing of their products.

At Red Feather Releaf, we go through a thorough testing process to ensure there is virtually none to micro-amounts of THC in our products. You can check out some of our results here.
